Fine grain, high resolution black and white for medium format. Lucky SHD100 is a new-generation medium-speed emulsion from China's historic Lucky Film Corporation —
freshly coated on a new film base with improved tolerance to heat and humidity, better scratch resistance, and excellent tonal range.
At ISO 100 this film thrives in daylight and produces beautifully clean negatives — very fine grain, wide latitude, and sharp resolution that holds up to serious enlargement. Think classical B&W character with real tonal depth: rich mid-tones, clean highlights, and subtle shadow detail.
The updated emulsion is far cleaner than earlier Lucky stocks, with minimal base fog and consistent quality. Coated on a near-clear polyester base, so it needs to be loaded in subdued light to avoid light piping — a small tradeoff for a film this affordable.
Develops in standard B&W chemistry. Lucky's official recommendation is Kodak D-76: 8 minutes at 20°C stock solution, or 12 minutes at 1:1.
